Facing reduced foot traffic due to bushfires, floods, landslides, and the pandemic, in 2021, the Steep St. space was transformed into STST.ARI, an Artist Run Initiative with new collaborators Brett Thompson, Monica Brooks and Nick Strike. Despite its short lifespan caused by the end of the lease, the platform was used to inspire the community to explore and expand the possibilities of the space, nurturing artistic experimentation. We hosted emerging artist takeovers, a residency program, open studio and during the major lockdowns used the window to display video works to the quiet cold streets.
